G is for gag me, I mean garter...

Well, I've been doing so much garter stitch I'm about nuts. When I started the mitred tote, I had no idea how very long the strap would be. It is long. Trust me on this one.
It is also FINISHED. I will felt today and get before and after pics posted in the next day or two.
Isn't O adorable modeling all the parts of the bag? The strap is wound around him three times (I don't think you can tell that in the pic)...
I am VERY busy right now. I have my knitting podcast (
have you listened to the newest episode?) and another
podcast I'm working on. I am training for a new job. I have TONS to do in my
church responsibilities. I will be out of town for the next three weeks. Life is crazy. Oh - and I have a fun couple of secret projects I'm working on as well. This is why my posts have gone down to a couple of times per week. But I still love you. And I'm still knitting.

I am married to a geek.
And BOY am I glad. J found a gizmo to help me get the pictures on my computer. I love that guy!!!!!

So, because I can copy pictures - I took quite a few. The first couple of pictures are the mitred bag I'm working on. I would be long finished except that I ran out of the pink. I only have a TINY bit left to knit. I hate it when that happens!!! But, I love the yarn - especially the pink - so I'm sure I'll find a use for the rest of the skein.

Now, a tour of my kitchen - specifically for my friend, Donna! My kitchen is pretty much the original from the 50s. It needs (?) updated, because as much as I am okay with doing dishes by hand - there are times it would be nice to have a dishwasher. I love everything about it. I love that I can close it off from the rest of the house if it's ever dirty.

I love the old hand-made drapes (see the shadow of Shadow?!).
I love the colors of the golds and browns. It is so warm and inviting. I love the yellow windows that I can see my china through.

The art/poetry in the frames is from the
1961 edition of Vol. 1 of the Childcraft series. The poems are
"The Cupboard" (January poem 19 if you click it) and
"Animal Crackers" (February poem 09) and the artwork is incredible! It is one of my very favorite books in all the world.

The plate was given to my mother when I was born. When I had my daughter, Mom passed it down to me. I love the quote. (click on it to read it)

And, of course, my vintage stove. I LOVE this stove. It warms up wonderfully and stays warm. It is very economical - it seals SO tight. Plus, it's just really cool to look at.

Thank God for dirty dishes
They have a tale to tell
While others may go hungry
We're eating very well!

Technical Difficulties

Well, I have lost the connector that allows me to upload pictures from my digital camera.
This really stinks.
This is the reason I haven't posted in a few days.
I have been working on the
"mitred stripes tote" and I am loving it. I'd never done mitred squares before and they are easy and very cool. I will post pictures of my own as soon as I have them... the one I'm doing is pink and purple (just the two colors instead of the three called for in the pattern).

I Can KNIT!!

It's a miracle!! After three excruciating days, the pain is gone (mostly) and I am knitting again. Good thing, too! Cause I really want to wear these gloves this season. Yes, it's still cold here. It snowed night before last. Gross.
Good news - I can wear my new fingerless gloves! I made them using some of the beautiful wool Aunt Eleanor sent. The pattern is
HERE. I used size 6 dpn's. I did them on aluminums because after the fiasco that was my knitting olympic project I just wanted speed, baby!
THE PROBLEM WITH GOING TOO FAST... Well, I misread the pattern (to be fair, it was a little tricky)... The pattern says Row 18 you start the thumb gusset. However, what it REALLY means is Row 18 AFTER you switch to stockinette stitch. Well, I am a literal soul, so I started at row 18. I just wish I had figured it out before I finished both gloves. Oh well. They were VERY quick to knit so I'll just knit another pair. After I knit some for K. She LOVES them. :O)
